Doctorate

After having obtained a Master degree (M2), a 3-year doctorat (=thesis, PhD) can be followed to train for research work. This is organised by the École Doctorale (= graduate scool) I2S, and may take place in one of the Montpellier Physics labs, Laboratoire Charles Coulomb and Laboratoire Univers et Particules de Montpellier, or in collabopration with other research laboratories, most often at the interface with Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science etc.

The doctorate thus prepares students for active research work in R&D, both in public institutions or in industry, or for an academic career.

These graduate programs, including the attribution of scholarships, are handled by the École doctorale (=graduate school) I2S.
